Thomas “Tom” Alongi
Tom graduated from DePauw University in May 1986 with a major in History and minor in Computational Mathematics. He then attended the University of Kansas School of Law, where he graduated three years later. He has law licenses in Kansas (1989), Minnesota (1998), and Arizona (2001). He is also licensed to appear in the U.S. District Court for the District of Arizona, as well as the United States Supreme Court.
During the past 37 years, Tom has practiced appellate, family, juvenile, and criminal law, including service as a county prosecutor, assistant U.S. attorney, assistant city attorney, and county public defender. Beginning in 2004, he developed an expansive family court practice, participating on family law rules committees and legislative workgroups, mediating family law disputes, covering family court hearings as a judge pro tempore, and teaching family law and civil procedure at the Phoenix School of Law.
Tom has presented training seminars on domestic violence intervention for over two decades, as well as topics such as spousal maintenance and artificial intelligence. He worked for Community Legal Services from January 2007 to June 2014 as a senior staff attorney, which helped him develop valuable problem-solving skills for people with limited resources. Afterward, he went into private practice in the Phoenix metropolitan area.
Tom plays horn semi-professionally with the Gilbert Symphony Orchestra, Phoenix Brass Collective, Salt River Brass, and Millennial Choirs and Orchestras. He also enjoys computer science, reading, writing, swimming, camping, and hiking.
Elizabeth “Betsy” Alongi
Betsy practices primarily in the areas of commercial transactions, including real estate, asset sales and acquisitions, small business formation, development, leasing, and related company work. Her experience includes negotiation of office, retail and industrial leases (including long term ground leases), purchase and sale agreements, reciprocal easement agreements, construction contracts, and other real estate related transactions. She has represented industrial, commercial, and retail developers, lenders, commercial builders, luxury home builders, national companies, hospitality companies, engineering firms, and other commercial entities. She has drafted and negotiated a wide variety of contracts and has extensive experience in real estate due diligence.
Betsy graduated cum laude with a J.D. from the University of Arizona College of Law in 2004, where she served as a managing editor of the Arizona Law Review. After law school, she served as a law clerk at the Arizona Court of Appeals for two years. Betsy has been a licensed attorney in Arizona since 2004.
Laura Oven
Laura Oven is our senior associate attorney. She has been licensed in Arizona since 2009. Laura’s practice has focused almost exclusively on family law. She operated a solo practice for more than ten years, during which she volunteered with the Modest Means Project helping ensure access to justice for low-income individuals. Laura then worked for Community Legal Services, where she represented survivors of domestic violence in their family law matters. Laura is experienced in helping clients reach effective and fair resolutions. She is also trained in Collaborative Divorce. Laura is a member of the Arizona State Bar, Maricopa County Bar Association, and Collaborative Professionals of Phoenix (CPP).
Anthony “Tony” Alongi
Tony acquired his Arizona license as a family law Legal Paraprofessional (LP) in 2026. Previously, he was a senior paralegal focusing mainly on family law since 2017.
Tony has extensive experience drafting pleadings, motions, and other legal documents, corresponding with clients and attorneys, performing legal research, interviewing clients, organizing disclosure and preparing disclosure reports, and working on a variety of other tasks. His organizational skills are outstanding.
Tony graduated from Northern Arizona University in December 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in Visual Communication (Dual Emphasis in Graphic Design and Computer Imaging). He then acquired a CCL in Paralegal Studies in December 2017.
